There’s really no way to get around it. No matter how things go with Covid-19, the holidays are going to be different this year. With how careful we have to be about large gathering and Covid-19 transmission, it’s going to be a very different feeling from the holidays before. Beyond that, the holiday season has always been the biggest time of the year for retailers. While that is still likely to be the case, there’s no doubt in my mind that the pandemic will take its toll on those businesses. So with that in mind, our holiday gift guide 2020 edition is going to be a little different.
With small businesses being the most impacted by the pandemic, we want to take this time to give back. The economy is already being impacted in a million ways, so use these holidays to give back to your community and at the same time get amazing, personal gifts for your friends and family.
Gift Certificates are Your Friend During a Pandemic
What do you get the people who have everything? Honestly, it’s hard to know what people’s financial situation is during Covid-19. I’m not saying that you should ask. Please, please don’t do that. Instead, give a gift certificate! I know, I know. It used to be seen as a faux pas to give a gift certificate, but this year, people will appreciate it.
Buy a gift certificate from a service provider that you know your friends love or from a local business with an online shop. This will allow people to get what they really need this holiday. Or, if you want to support your community and give your friends and family something nice at the same time, buy a gift certificate to a local store or restaurant for them to use in the future.
