Things to Do in West Palm Beach with Kids

Winter break rolled around last December, and guess what? My little tribe and I packed our bags and headed off to the sunny shores of West Palm Beach. I’m buzzing to share every tidbit and treasure with you, so you can dream up your perfect family getaway.

We snagged an Airbnb that was nothing short of a parental paradise – think private pool and hot tub. Yes, it’s as dreamy as it sounds, especially after those full days exploring.

The weather? Picture perfect. Imagine basking in a cozy 25-26°C with the occasional light shower to cool things off. It gave us all the sunshine we needed without any of us turning into lobsters!

Now, while the ocean was a tad too chilly for a swim, the beaches and parks along the coast were our sandbox. Let me dive into the real gems – the attractions that made our trip unforgettable. We were focus on the FREE nature things to do before we purchased tickets to attractions. This trip was planned for kids age 6 and 10 years old. Younger kids will enjoy too, but keep in mind there are long walks in the trails.

Lion Country Safari

Lion Country Safari was like stepping into another realm where the wild roams free. We boarded a safari that wove us through habitats of majestic creatures for over an hour. But hold on, there’s more – rides, a petting zoo, animal encounters, boat rides, and water slides. Yes, all under one ticket. Talk about a day brimming with adventure!

Manatee Lagoon

Manatee Lagoon stole our hearts without costing a dime. It’s this cozy little nook where education meets awe. We watched manatees, crafted, and learned, all with a stunning balcony view.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

We wandered the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for no fee at all. Trails, boardwalks, and the thrill of the great outdoors at our fingertips. Parking is also free.

John D. MacArthur Beach State Park

John D. MacArthur Beach State Park was another treasure chest opened. A state park with a long boardwalk bridge and many other trails. Entry is $5 for a car and there is also a shuttle that can take you across the bridge. Sandy beaches, and treasured shells for our collection back home.

Okeeheelee Park

And let’s not forget Okeeheelee Park with its trails and nature walks that whispered secrets of nature to us at every bend.

Downtown West Palm Beach

Downtown West Palm Beach twinkled with its own holiday spirit. We strolled around Clematis St. amongst music, lights, and the festive ambiance of cafes and restaurants. It felt like Christmas wrapped in a warm Floridian hug.

West Palm Beach waved its magic wand and gave us a holiday break to remember. Sending sunshine and adventure vibes your way, always.
