An Honest Review: Family Vacation at Grand Sirens Punta Cana Resort
As a mom and a traveler, I always strive for transparency and honesty in my blog posts, especially when it comes to sharing my family vacations with fellow Toronto new moms.
Thus, I feel compelled to share my unfiltered opinion on our recent getaway to the Grand Sirens Punta Cana Resort, given that my own Google review mysteriously disappeared from their Google My Business and it looks like most of the reviews on Google are not genuine or maybe given by drunk visitors at the pool to get something for free.
Here’s the lowdown on our December family vacation to the Dominican Republic.
First, I booked the vacation via Sunwing– Service, flights and transportation were amazing. Thank you Sunwing!
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Grand Sirens Punta Cana Resort
Facilities: A Beach Lover’s Dream
The resort’s pools and the beachfront shine as its crowning jewels. Kept mostly clean, they offered a refreshing escape from the heat and were a hit with the kids.
Culinary Experiences: A Mixed Bag
Variety wasn’t lacking at the buffet, but innovation was another story; too many dishes were hints of déjà vu. A peculiar bad habit of transferring spoons between dishes- from meat to vegan dishes, they move their spoons from one to another. When you ask the servers- they don’t seems to understand what’s the issue.
Customer Service: A Rollercoaster Ride
Interactions with the staff fluctuated wildly. While some employees delivered smiles and helpful gestures, others seemed as if answering a simple question was a monumental task.
Waterpark: Proceed with Caution
Despite how it looks in the photos, the waterpark is outdated and NOT safe.
Didn’t seem to uphold the highest safety measures—a sentiment underscored by an unfortunate incident requiring hospital attention. It also very far and required some walk.
Sales Team: Avoid at All Costs
A seemingly innocent invitation to a “free premium breakfast” morphed into a high-pressure, borderline aggressive sales pitch. Far from the vacation vibe, it was an unwelcome stressor.
They literally didn’t let us leave their office. They were very rude, aggressive. STAY AWAY FROM THE CONCIERGE at all cost.
Dining Out: Hits and Misses
On a brighter note, the steakhouse and Brazilian restaurant did not disappoint, offering tantalizing options. However, our experience at the Mediterranean spot was shameful. We had a reservation for 8, we received our food at 10:15pm. We were starving, all the kids cried around and the food was really bad (I mean, really bad, not food any place should served).
Entertainment: A Mixed Experience
While evening shows provided enjoyment, the cleanliness of the theater left much to be desired. Daytime poolside activities, including a dance class hampered by technical difficulties, their one speaker didn’t work to play the music for the fitness class. Stuff like that
Final Thoughts
Given its competitive pricing, Grand Sirens Punta Cana Resort might appeal to those prioritizing budget over culinary and service. If you would like to stay at the beach and relax, as long as you are staying away from the concierges and the sales team, you will be fine! Have fun!
Despite the resort’s shortcomings, the vacation wasn’t a total wash. It served as a reminder that sometimes, you truly get what you pay for. And in the spirit of finding a silver lining, it offered our family the beach time we so eagerly anticipated, amidst the quirks and qualms of our stay.
Happy travels, and may your vacation choices bring more joy than frustration.
