Why The Gruffalo’s Child is the Perfect Family Day Outing

Hey parents! If you’re like me, always on the lookout for activities that keep the kids entertained while sneaking in a little quality family time, you’re going to love this one. The Gruffalo’s Child is coming to the Living Arts Centre this February, and it’s the perfect mix of magic, music, and just enough adventure to keep your little ones (and you!) totally engaged.

Why I’m Excited to Take My Family

The Gruffalo books are a bedtime favorite in our house, so when I heard that Tall Stories was bringing The Gruffalo’s Child to life on stage, I couldn’t wait to grab tickets. This story has everything my kids love: an adventurous little Gruffalo, mysterious creatures, and that age-old question—does the Big Bad Mouse really exist?

From what I’ve read, the stage adaptation is packed with songs, humor, and a touch of spookiness that’s just right for younger kids. It sounds like the kind of performance that makes their eyes light up and their imaginations run wild.

What to Expect

The show follows the Gruffalo’s curious daughter as she ventures into the deep, dark wood on a snowy night. Along the way, she meets some quirky characters and discovers that bravery isn’t always about being fearless—it’s about facing the unknown.

It’s not just the kids who’ll be captivated by the story. As a parent, I’m always looking for performances that remind us all (yes, even us grown-ups) about the importance of curiosity, courage, and a little bit of whimsy.
