Preschool Show and Tell list

When my LO started preschool, I was going bananas about the Show and Tell activity.
Every Tuesday evening I was in a panic about not having something that starts with the specific letter of the week. I would go and Google “Words that start with E” or “Show and tell list” in order to think of something.
Some weeks it would be more difficult than usual. How many words start with X? Not many.

After the first few months, I became more efficient. I created my very own list in my iPhone notes. Every time that I saw an item at home that would be good to use for show and tell, I would add it to my list under the right letter. It was lots of work, but later it helped me with that panic on Tuesday nights.
So now, every Show and Tell morning, I open my list and give my LO a few options to choose from.

I recommend that you create your own list of items you always have at home. I also would like to share my list here with you, so you will always have the list of Show and Tell items.

What can you bring to a Show and Tell?

When I choose a Show and Tell item my first option is always a fruit or vegetable. In my LO’s preschool, the teacher will cut the fruit or vegetables and share it with the kids. Also, this is a great way to teach more about vegetables and make you LO more interested and familiar with the names. Hopefully, they will be more interested in eating them as well.

The second option and next easiest one will be to use all the pretend toys our kids have. I’m talking about pretending food, pretend kitchen items, and pretend fruits and vegetables. Those are great and those items are always around.

The third option is toys like dolls, trains, and cars. Kids love the idea of showing their toys in the class.

The last option and the most important one for parents is to use everyday items you have at home.
E for an envelope, L for a letter, F for a fork. I think you’ve got me here.

Hopefully, this helped give you some ideas and is now, on my list. For each letter, I added * to the easiest item. So if you are in a rush, just go to the asterisks.
